Tip of the Week

Is wearing disposable gloves in the kitchen more hygienic? The answer depends on how you use them…
Disposable gloves are great to protect your hands when preparing raw meat or high colour vegetables such as beetroot. They can also offer a hygienic perception for customers when serving from an open kitchen or carvery.
There are no other hygiene benefits from wearing gloves to work in the kitchen as hand washing is the best method of keeping hands clean. However, if you do wear gloves, they MUST be changed as often as you would wash your hands.
Alert
80% of communicable diseases are transferred by touch alone, which means that they can be easily prevented by changing gloves and washing hands.
